Prayer of Discipleship

Dear Jesus,

You’ve called every soul to yourself, aware of our faults and failures, but also our gifts, perspectives, our talents, and our dreams. As we grow to know you, help us to more fully understand ourselves and, in doing so, to use our unique positions to spread your love to the world.

Truthfulness, Explained!

Sin began with a lie.

It was a lie that Satan told Eve in the Garden of Eden, and it was by doubting God’s faithfulness — by thinking God to be a liar — that the fall of man came about.

Of course, God Himself is Truth — Adam and Eve discovered that when they believed the lie. Therefore, if we belong to God, we must live truthfully — in small matters and in large ones, so that the witness we bear to the ultimate Truth of God shall always be taken seriously. “Witness is an act of justice that establishes the truth or makes it known,” says the Catechism (CCC 2472), which also calls the act of martyrdom “truth written in letters of blood.” (CCC 2474)

When Ananias tries to deceive the Christian community and secretly hoard wealth for himself, Peter tells him he has “lied not to human beings, but to God.” (Acts 5:4)

Oración del Discipulado

Querido Jesús,

Has llamado a cada alma hacia ti, consciente de nuestros defectos y fracasos, pero también de nuestros dones, perspectivas, talentos y sueños. A medida que te conocemos, ayúdanos a comprendernos más plenamente y, al hacerlo, a usar nuestras posiciones únicas para difundir tu amor al mundo.

¡Veracidad, Explicada!

El pecado comenzó con una mentira.

Fue una mentira que Satanás le contó a Eva en el Jardín del Edén, y fue dudando de la fidelidad de Dios — pensando que Dios era un mentiroso — que se produjo la caída del hombre.

Por supuesto, Dios mismo es la Verdad — Adán y Eva lo descubrieron cuando creyeron la mentira. Por lo tanto, si pertenecemos a Dios, debemos vivir con verdad — tanto en asuntos pequeños como en grandes, para que el testimonio que damos de la Verdad última de Dios siempre sea tomado en serio. "El testimonio es un acto de justicia que establece la verdad o la hace conocer", dice el Catecismo (CIC 2472), que también llama al acto de martirio "verdad escrita en letras de sangre." (CCC 2474)

Cuando Ananías intenta engañar a la comunidad cristiana y acaparar riquezas en secreto para sí mismo, Pedro le dice que "no ha mentido a los seres humanos, sino a Dios." (Hechos 5:4)
